For seasonal pruning I’ll be in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area in February, June, November to mid December.

Aesthetic pruning of trees (twelve feet tall and under), shrubs, and vines. I specialize in maples, most conifers (pines, junipers, hinoki etc.), fruit trees (apples, pears, crab-apples etc), weeping varieties, Wisteria, Camellias, and Rhododendrons.

Pruning to fit both the client's aesthetic needs and the health of the plant is crucial to me. I work in a variety of aesthetic pruning styles from Japanese (my main focus) to French (espalier, etc.) to “natural” styles—and sometimes mingle styles together. Recognizing each plant’s unique habit and character determines the way I approach it. Perceiving how a specimen fits into the entire picture of the garden is equally essential.
